GATE CITY MOVING

Moving is hard to do but luckily, there are ways to ease the transition for you and your children. Firstly, it is important to note that moving during the school year can be disruptive, so if you can, avoid it. However if there is no way around it, look on the bright side. It may give your child more opportunities to meet and make friends in the new school! Also, don't spring the move onto your child. Make sure they know about it as soon as you do – this will allow them to know what to expect as well as make the transition much easier on everyone, especially you.

I know it sounds strange, but moving can be fun! Videotaping your new home or neighborhood, emphasizing everything your child can look forward to (a new swing set! A basketball hoop in the driveway!) can allow your child to become invested in the new home. Note that though change can be good, it is important to lessen the dramatics of it all. The less dramatic the change, the more your child will be able to adjust!
